When I came to know Jesus in college, at that point, there was this big push among a lot of Christian churches and Christian ministries on the campus to show all these movies. It's going to be a fun little time to talk about it. This is a fun opportunity to actually just talk about what is that like from a pastoral perspective, as a leader going through this? How are we approaching it, and what are we thinking? Thanks for letting me do this, you guys. All of us are taking this journey through the Book of Revelation over this next several weeks, few months here. And sitting here with two other Veritas pastors, Mark Arant, that I work with in Iowa City, and Jake Each in Cedar Rapids.

Physical hunger often ignites a great spiritual hunger in our lives.ĭr.Jeff Dodge: Well, Veritas family, and by that I mean every Veritas church out there and anybody else that wants to listen in, my name's Jeff. The primary objective is to deny ourselves, and make space and time in our lives to seek God in prayer and the reading of His Word for a greater move of God in our lives, and our world. Important: Young people be sure to talk with your parents, and your family’s doctor about how to safely fast. We typically start on the first Sunday in January. Join us in fasting for 21 days in January - January 1st-21st, 2023, however God leads you to fast. Psalm 9:10: Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Join us in fasting in January 1st-21st, 2023. “The Roaring Twenties Fast is not about any one church, leader, organization or denomination but rather a collective of believers young and old who sense that God will move mightily in the Roaring Twenties.” -Dr. You can watch fasting devotionals daily in January on the app. Many churches, ministries and young leaders are encouraging the 2023 fast. “As we stand before a generation with an appetite for the presence of God, may we be mindful of this: fasting is what prepares our spirit for the fresh filing from God that we need.” -Jon Groves Throughout 2023, digital ministers on every social media platform will be echoing the idea that Jesus Christ is worthy of the pursuit. When we seek God, we know He always does great things. God invites us to seek Him, and He is worthy of the pursuit. The Bible tells us, “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” (Psalm 9:10) Fasting and prayer are the great invitations to know and love Jesus like never before. The theme of the 2023 fast is “Worthy of the Pursuit”. Shane Idleman, pastor of Westside Christian Fellowship in California states, “ When God moves, prayer and fasting have often been the catalyst.” With economic uncertainty, political polarization, and fear abounding from coast to coast there has never been a greater need for God to move. This annual fast began in 2020 and will continue throughout the “Roaring Twenties”. Today, prominent Christian leaders, ministries, and young influencers throughout the United States are urging and supporting a call for one million people, especially young people, to fast and pray at the beginning of 2023.
